Educating Young Children in Knowledge-Based Economy
The 9th Annual Conference
The Pacific Early Childhood Education Research Association will hold its ninth annual conference in Thailand, July 6-9, 2008. The theme for this conference is: Educating Young Children in Knowledge-Based Economy. We recognize that the early childhood education encompasses knowledge, examining early childhood education in a broader and complex scope will help us further our knowledge and practice development in the field, in order to meet the needs of supporting young children’s development and learning in a fast changing world.
PECERA is an organization dedicated to disseminating and supporting research in early childhood education in the Pacific area. Conference participants have come from many countries and regions around the Pacific rim, including Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, among others.
The 2008 PECERA conference is the first annual conference that is held in Thailand. We cordially invite you to join us for this important event for early childhood educators and related professionals for young children.
RATIONALE
Human resource development both in term of knowledge and highly-skilled workers is the important key to drive through the world of knowledge based-economy (KBE). The responsibility of education in each country is to consider that what kind of the population would fit to its direction. To know-what, to know-why, to know-how, and to know-who may be further focus since innovation and creation of productivity is high emphasized.
The Faculty of Education at Chulalongkorn University wishes to underscore the need to search for guidelines and build up a corpus of knowledge on harmonizing western and eastern education.
OBJECTIVES

To share knowledge and experiences in developing child learning and potential among teachers, educators, and professionals
